19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hard courts
A resurgent Medvedev won his maiden trophy for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.
The Russian, a former number one, has had a challenging year, achieving just one match at the big events and undergoing a meltdown at the US Open.
The player's varied form on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serving in particular - caused him falling of the world's top 10 and eventually parting ways with former mentor Cervara.
Now training with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually advanced in the last few weeks - culminating in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over opponent Moutet.
This represents Medvedev's maiden championship since the Italian tournament and initial on a hardcourt after that period of that year.
Success also signifies he has achieved 21 championships at 21 distinct tournaments.
"For the first time I'm at a tournament with my two daughters together, so to win a trophy is really nice," commented ranked player the champion.
"This championship is in honour of my younger daughter Victoria, because the first title I won when my first daughter her name was delivered was for her."
The athlete, the past champion, had failed in his previous six title deciders, including in that event previously this season.
The player's counter-punching play style and regular outbursts on the tennis court had prompted some to wonder if his skill to compete at the highest level was finished.
Yet the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, attempting to approach the net and perform aggressively, supported by an improved serving game.
Medvedev fought back from a deficit in the initial set against the challenging opponent, winning 4 of the last five games to gain the advantage.
The pair swapped breaks in the following set before the challenger, attempting for his first professional championship, gained dominance to create a decider.
He rescued 4 initial break points in a competitive third set before Medvedev won the break to that score to close out the victory.
Suitably, he clinched the win with a point at the net area, with his opponent failing to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
